Sustainability
We don’t treat sustainability like a feature. It’s just how this place came together.
Less concrete, more natural materials.
Minimal disturbance to the land.
Spaces that follow the light, air, and shade already here.
Things here are meant to last, without taking away from what was already here.
So when you’re here, it still feels like the land, not something built on it.
No loud additions, no unnecessary changes.
Just a place that grows quietly, without trying to be anything else.
Concept
(Machan, Ghosla, No Trees Cut 🌿)
This place was never meant to take over the land, just to exist with it.
At Birds Nest, a nature resort in Shahapur, about two hours from Mumbai, everything has been built around what was already here.
Nothing here was built by clearing space. Everything was built by working around it.
The machans sit around the trees, not instead of them, quiet spots where you can slow down and just be.
Ghosla, our restaurant, follows the same idea, a space that feels tucked in, where you sit together and eat slowly, without looking at the time.
No trees were cut to make this place. If something stood here before, it still stands.
A lot of what you see here wasn’t just preserved, it was grown. Trees were planted over time and allowed to take their place before anything was built around them.
Built around what was here, not in place of it.
