Experiences at Birds Nest Resort, Shahapur
Most people come here tired.
Birds Nest is a small nature resort in Shahapur, about two hours from Mumbai, surrounded by hills, quiet, and no traffic noise. The kind of place you hear about from someone, and then end up coming back to.
You won’t find a schedule here. You’ll probably sleep a little more than usual, walk around without a plan, and do very little but somehow feel better.
This is what a weekend is supposed to feel like.
Trekking Trails Near Shahapur
The trails start close to the property, natural paths used by locals, nothing marked or commercial.
Some take you through dense patches, others open up to wide views across the hills. You’ll figure your own pace here.
Best done early morning or just before sunset. Wear proper shoes, the ground gets uneven. October to February is easier to walk, June to September is greener, but slippery.
If you feel like moving, this is where you’ll start.
The Machan
A wooden sit-out built around the trees, slightly raised and open to the valley.
Mornings are slow here. Light comes in gradually across the Sahyadris. You’ll hear birds before you see anything else moving.
Most people come up for a few minutes and end up staying much longer. Phones don’t really matter here.
If you do just one thing here, make it this.
Yoga Space
There’s no fixed class, no instructor waiting.
Some mornings you might stretch. Some days you’ll just sit with the hills in front of you. The mat faces the treeline, and sometimes there’s mist rolling through.
It’s less about doing it right, more about just starting your day differently.
Badminton Evenings
There’s a small court on the property.
Around six, people slowly gather. Not proper matches, just casual games, a bit of running around, missed shots, and a lot of laughter.
Nothing serious, but it changes the rhythm of the day.
